Yehezkel Streichman was a painter and art teacher.
Born in 1909, Kaunas, Lithuania.
Died in 1993, Tel Aviv, Israel.

Streichman is considered one of the most respected painters in Israel. He was one of the founders of the "New Horizons" art group.

Streichman was best known for his abstract paintings, a style to which he turned in the mid-1950s. Streichman seemingly abandoned the reality outside the painting and devoted himself to the elements that make up the picturesque medium, his paintings became abstract and lyrical but at the same time maintained a dialogue with the Israeli landscape. In his works he did not try to describe reality, but gave expression to his feelings towards it and his inner world.

Streichman has exhibited in Israel in many solo and group exhibitions. Among other, he has had solo exhibitions at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (1953, 1945, 1960, 1975, 1989) and the Israel Museum (1974, 1987).

Yehezkel Streichman won the prestigious Dizengoff Prize three times (1944, 1954 and 1969), the Sandberg Prize (1974) and in 1990 received the Israel Prize for Art.
